About

Jesse Cromer

I graduated from the Manhattan School of Music in 2009, then lived and performed there for over nine years. I have performed on the stages of Carnegie Hall, Avery Fisher, two Off-Broadway shows, and toured with hip-hop supergroup Deltron 3030, culminating in a “Letterman Show” appearance. I’ve also performed locally with Broadway Rose Theatre and Clackamas Repertory, and in 2019, I was cast in a supporting role in the Netflix show Documentary Now – Season three, episode three.

Inspiration is my main motivation, and it goes both ways for students and teachers. As I say often in lessons, I have the best job in the world. There is nothing more satisfying than seeing my students tackle their goals head on, and reach heights that they never thought possible. In hiring my talented and dedicated team, we can now spread this wildly efficient technique as far as possible. Join us now for immediate progress, fun, and lasting results.

Top Educators

Voice Teachers

In January 2019, I began training and hiring teachers all around the Northwest to teach my technique. Each teacher has studied privately with me, trained separately with an emphasis on pedagogy, and possesses a strong performance resume in whatever genre they specialize in. This has been an immediate success, and lessons are available for every budget. We currently have three teachers total; more are training presently!

Jennifer S.

“Jesse has been working with our daughter’s voice for about 4 months now. She has made great progress and we are satisfied with the results. She looks forward to her weekly lesson and thoroughly enjoys them. Jesse is personable, prepared, and flexible when needed. We appreciate his expertise and find that his rates are very reasonable!”

Tracy W.

“I’m consider myself lucky to be working with Jesse. I had zero training or experience in singing other than in my car or by myself. I’m no longer a closet singer!  He’s taking my voice to another level and given me the confidence to use my voice. Jesse is very knowledgeable about the mechanics of singing, but he makes learning fun. It’s the perfect way for me to learn the techniques to get the sound we’re looking for. I would highly recommend contacting Jesse for any issues you may be having, instruction on the different techniques to use while singing or vocalizing in any form. Be prepared to have fun and learn a lot!”

Jaron C.

“Jesse’s techniques and guidance have significanly pushed me toward meeting my personal goals as a vocalist. After only a few weeks of practicing what he teaches and attending weekly lessons, I am hitting notes I couldn’t hit before, singing more comfortably, and starting to really like the sound of my voice! I’m excited to see how my voice will progress moving forward with his lessons. Would strongly recommend to anyone who is interested in learning how to sing at any level.”

Kyle G.

Mike D.

“Jesse is a superb teacher. I’ve been very pleased with my progress under his guidance. He is able to explain the techniques and exercises in a very engaging way, and he is very intuitive and empathic as well. Hearing him demonstrate whatever we are working on is very inspiring, too!”

Daniel L.

“I’ve had many voice teachers, but few who are in tune with everything from mechanics, to placement, and then most important, how that translates to the stage! I’ve always been good with mechanics but forget everything when I get on stage. Jesse worked with me so that technique was second nature and I could focus on performing. THANKS JESSE!!!”

Aly S.

“Jesse is a wonderful voice teacher.  I come from a vocal music background and was quite serious, at one point planning on studying vocal music in college. As such, I’ve worked with a number of voice teachers in my “old life”, but took a break for around 8 years after I lost my love for the subject.  I decided it was time to revisit my lost love and it was very nerve wracking – I had lost a lot of my range, and hadn’t seriously sang in years. However, Jesse has made it easy to return to music, and practices the kind of balanced teaching I was always looking for but never found when I was seriously studying. His vocal exercises are great – they successfully combine breath support, stretching range, and increasing intricacy. He has a variety of music styles as well, and won’t peg you to one – musicals, jazz, opera, whatever.  He balances a stress-free experience alongside pushing you when you need it. Most of all, I’m getting back into fighting shape (vocally), while still having fun and laughing a lot, and if there’s anything I’ve learned, you have to be having fun.”

Jonathan B.

Jesse is a thoughtful and communicative teacher, and an expert at his craft. Immediately after my first lesson I was ecstatic to hear the dramatic improvement in my vocal capability thanks to his techniques, exercises, and tutelage. He is also a very comfortable and good hearted dude and i looked forward to each lesson. Could not recommend highly enough!

Brennan M.

“Jesse is one of those people that exudes seemingly effortless talent. You watch him and think that he makes it look easy. This guy could make a rock sing. Fortunately, he teaches you how to make it look easy. Jesse’s superior and unwavering technique & knowledge will help you unlock your true potential. He is a mentor who will never not have an answer for your question & a support beam for when you are lacking confidence. Truly one of the greats!”

Edward B.

“Jesse has this wonderful way of making you feel completely comfortable with where you are at in singing, and excited to where you can go. He is professional, and very good at coaching you. Definitely a teacher I would recommend time and time again!”

John D.

“I’ve had 6 lessons so far and each one has improved my singing technique in a tangible way.  I have had several voice teachers in the past and Jesse is the first one to clarify many of the ideas that get thrown out to young singers and provide me with multiple connections to insure that the concepts not just stick but also translate into real improvement.  He is extraordinarily patient when things are one inevitably unclear and also holds you to high but achievable standards.  I hope to continue and grow with his instruction in the future.”

Bruce B.

“Jesse is not only exceedingly knowledgeable but he obviously cares a great deal about the student’s progression.  His energy and enthusiasm are inspiring and he is talented beyond his years.  I feel quite fortunate to be able to take voice lessons from a teacher of this caliber.”

Laura A.

“Jesse Cromer is an awesome instructor, very systematic. Working with him is very therapeutic; he taught me to loosen my jaw with the exercises and my voice is improved 100%. Jesse is very proactive in the lessons and gives fantastic feedback. I wish I could have two lessons a week instead of one!  A pleasure to work with and very flexible too.”

Richard P.

“Jesse is an amazing vocalist who has an inspiring enthusiasm for helping his clients become a great singers/musicians. In our lessons, I am relaxed and confident because of his approach. Just in one lesson I’ve learned so much that has put me on the path to becoming fantastic at singing. Jesse is a fun guy, very attentive to my individual needs as a vocalist and anyone would be lucky to get such quality lessons at a rate so modest.”

Brody C.

“Jesse is a great instructor with a prestigious background and education in singing and music in general. He knows what he’s talking about. He’s easy to get along and communicate with, and knows when to push you and how hard to push to reach your goals. I had no music background and after a few lessons, I already know I can go far in the music world. This guy is the real deal.”

Kymm J.

“So far I have had two lessons with Jesse and I’m already looking forward to the next one. His teaching style is very laid-back and easy-going. He intuitively knows when to push me and when to take it easy. I have already noticed a great improvement in my singing, even if it’s just in the car. 🙂 I strongly recommend him to anyone, whether you’re brand-new, returning after break, or a professional who needs to brush up.”

Theodore H.

“I’ve been working with Jesse for over a year now and I’ve definitely seen the improvement in my singing abilities! He’s great at communicating and thinking of new ways on how to explain different techniques in a way I can understand and transfer into my singing. We’ve managed to expand my voice more than I ever thought I could.  He’s also taught me how to read music and play piano! Jesse is a very skilled teacher and  a great guy to work with in general. He’s easy to get along with and is really funny. I really enjoy lessons with him.”

Stephanie S.

“Jesse is clearly VERY talented and is passionate about sharing his knowledge.  Lessons are fun and you really learn a lot in a short period of time. Thanks, Jesse!”

Hannah H.

He challenges you just the right amount, making sure that you are feeling good while also progressing! I would definitely recommend Jesse for any one looking to take voice lessons!”

Frequently Asked Questions

FAQs

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

We’ll start with a free phone consultation, to decide which teacher will be the best fit. The first lesson will begin with a system of exercises that I’ve culled and developed over the years, focusing on breathing, release of tension, and mixture of head and chest voices. From there, we work on whatever music you choose. The technique goes hand in hand with any style of singing. All Coaches use the same structure.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

Jesse – Bachelor of Music-Vocal Performance Manhattan School of Music 2009.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

I began playing the piano from a young age, and starting singing at age 14. After a few years and inspiring musical experiences, I decided that I wanted to be a singer. Coming from a family of two public school teachers, pedagogy is in my blood, so teaching comes naturally. I even have a brother who is a professional golf instructor! 4 years ago, after 10 years in NYC performing and teaching, I came back to be with family. Since then, my studio has grown to over 25 students a week.

What types of customers have you worked with?

We’ve worked with every kind of singer / musician that I can think of. Off the top of my head, We’ve had singers of early music, opera, art song, musical theatre, jazz, rock, pop, hip-hop, big-band, funk, R&B, punk, ska, metal, electronic.. the list goes on and on. I’ve also helped people with public speaking, piano, and acting as well.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

Five years ago, a young man walked into my studio, and wanted to work on background vocals for a successful local band that he played bass with. He had some experience, but felt weak vocally. After diligently learning the technique, he has grown immensely, with fantastic head and chest voices. Several months ago, the band had no choice but to ask him to front the band!

One more example would be during fall 2017, one of my students began at the Manhattan School of Music, with scholarship. After just a year of lessons with me, his voice blossomed, and he is currently flourishing at school.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Try multiple teachers. It can be hard to find the right fit. Also, look for someone that gives you immediate connections / results, and that makes you laugh. We are happy to offer a range of teachers at all price points, so just give us a call to take the next step!

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

How often you’d like lessons, what your budget allows for, and specific genres / songs that you’d like to sing.

What should the customer know about your pricing?

Prices with Jesse are $90 per each individual hour lesson, or $80 per if you pay monthly ($320 for 4). Clients paying monthly will be responsible for setting up make-ups for lessons that they cancel with 24 hours notice, and after the first payment, will pay every 4th lesson. No need to make up for major holiday weeks, unless desired. For half-hours, it works the same way, but for $50 individual / $45 ($180 for 4) monthly. Lessons canceled under 24 hours will be charged. No refunds. Other AAS teachers have the same guidelines, but range from $50 – $70 per hour.
